Hi we are visiting Disney in April and I have two questions ,do you think the haunted house ride in MK will be too scary for a 4 and 5 year old? and my son loves captain Hook and smee where do you think the best place to find them is? thanks

    Claudia,

Your trip is just around the corner - how exciting!

It's really hard for me to say whether or not your kids will be able to ride Haunted Mansion.  I know many children (even older than yours) who are frightened by it and will not ride.  My own daughters (5, 3 &1) love it, and we ride more than once on each visit.

The ride is designed to be 'fun spooky', not scary, and in my opinion it's a Disney classic.  My girls have always played along and not been frightened at all.  However, not knowing your children my best advice would be to research a little.  If you go to YouTube and search 'Haunted Mansion' you'll get several results.  I just tried and the second one on the page is the ride at Walt Disney Wold.  I suggest that you watch that, and if you think it might be appropriate show it to your children as well.  If they know what to expect it might make the experience less troublesome for all of you.  We used this technique to prepare our daughter for other rides like Tower of Terror and Dinosaur and it worked out very well for us.

As for Captain Hook and Smee, on my last two visits to the World I've seen them doing meet and greets in the Magic Kingdom in Adventureland.  There is a queue and greeting area off to your right when you enter from Main Street USA and they ave been there.  You can also keep an eye out for them in the parade and during the Pirate & Princess Party (if you are attending).
