We will be visiting in April for my daughter's Sweet 16. She is vegan so I'm looking for a restaurant with a fabulous dessert for her birthday. Any suggestions?

Hi, Colleen! While at Walt Disney World Resort last week, I had the opportunity to taste several of the new items that are featured in the new Plant-Based Menu all across the Resort. While not personally vegan, I can tell you I was VERY impressed by these new menu items! Be sure to hop over to the Guide to Plant-Based Cuisine Options at Walt Disney World Resort. Each section will open to feature specific menu items found in each location.

As far as a recommended spot for you, I have a couple that I think maybe perfect for a sweet 16 celebration. My current favorite dining location to recommend is Toledo - Tapas, Steak & Seafood. This new restaurant, found at the top of Gran Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort features fantastic views of Walt Disney World Resort. In the evening, you can see the nighttime spectaculars from Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, and Disney's Hollywood Studios from either inside this restaurant or the balcony outside Dahlia Lounge. My favorite dish there was the Plant-Based "Seafood." I will not spoil the surprise, but you would never guess that it is not really crab cakes, calamari, and scallops you are eating! They have a Chocolate-Avocado Mousse, but if you prefer something more celebratory, I recommend calling Erin McKenna's Bakery NYC at 855-462-2292. Their Disney Springs location offers delicious vegan birthday cakes that can be picked up or delivered to select Disney Dining locations.

My next recommendation is California Grill. I have heard many rave reviews for their Lavender Donuts and Plant-Based Cashew Cheesecake. Of course, the Magic Kingdom Park views from their balcony cannot be beaten and can be practically perfect for your daughter's celebration! I cannot finish out these recommendations without giving praise to Chef TJ, who can be found heading up delicious vegan options at Cape May Cafe at Disney's Beach Club Resort. He is well known for his attention to the vegan menu, especially with an over-the-top dessert he personally prepares. Please note that he is not there at the location at all times, but if you are lucky enough to dine there when he is cooking, then your daughter will have an enviable meal experience!

I hope these recommendations help you plan a magical evening for your daughter! Please let us know if you have any other questions!
