Hi Christian, welcome to planDisney!
Like you, I've visited Walt Disney World Resort in every season. I've worn a winter coat and gloves at Disney's Hollywood Studios, taken advantage of shorter lines for attractions during a summer downpour, and seen my father-in-law determine that no costume is worth melting for on an especially toasty Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party night. Depending on the day and your level of preparedness, the weather can be a Disney hero or a Disney villain. I have three tips to help you maximize the magic during your October visit.
1. Check the forecast
My family doesn't start packing until our vacation is in the 10-day forecast. I've experienced highs in the 90s and lows in the 50s during recent October visits to Walt Disney World Resort, and the 10-day forecast is the first sign of what you can expect during your trip. For one January visit, the forecast showed I needed to pack my winter coat and my bathing suit! I always feel bad for the Guests freezing in shorts and tank tops on cooler evenings and encourage you to not be those Guests.
2. Pack layers
This past October, I was comfortable in shorts and t-shirts throughout my park days. The October before that, I needed a light jacket when taking advantage of early theme park entry and attending Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. I made sure my family's jackets were lightweight enough to fit in my park bag or wrap around our waists during the day. Layers are definitely something to consider when planning for your party attire. I find that zip-up jackets and cardigan sweaters keep you warm while maximizing costume visibility.
3. Stay flexible
If Mother Nature decides that Magic Kingdom Park needs some extra watering on the night of your Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, pack your poncho and literally dance in the rain. Rain canceled the first Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade on my party date last year, but I was still able to catch an abbreviated version of the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular and the later parade. When rain is in the forecast, I also throw a pair of flip flops in my park bag so I don't have to deal with soggy socks and sneakers.
Rain or shine, you're going to have a spooktacular time at your first Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Christian. Another way you can prepare for your visit is by checking out all of the tantalizing treats that will be available. They look frighteningly delicious!
Choose magic,
Jennifer
