1st visit to DW Jan '09. (DH, DS(11), DD(6) and myself.) I can't decide where to stay, I have it down to a suite @ All-Star Music or crt yd view at WL. What are your thoughts about splitting the week? Too much of a hassle? Waste of time? Thanks!

    Dellene,

Not a waste of time!  We often split stays if we are visiting for a long time.  It's a great way to experience more resorts, which is always fun!  And it really helps you get a better feel for how your family would prefer to vacation.

How do you envision using your resort?  A place to sleep at night, or a destination in and of itself?  We happen to love the deluxe resorts, which is one big reason we decided to purchase the Disney Vacation Club (DVC).  However, I have many friends who say that they spend all their time in the parks, so anything more than a value resort is wasted money for them.  Don't pay for it if you won't be there to use it!  The deluxe resorts have a lot to offer, and you really should be around to experience them if you stay there.  If you don't want to be at your resort then they probably won't be worth the extra money to you.

That said, my first thought when I read your question was that you need to be sure you stay at All-Star Music first, because once you hit the Wilderness Lodge you won't want to leave!  It's a truly beautiful resort, and one of my favorites on Disney property.  After leaving there, the only thing that would compare for me would be the Animal kingdom Lodge...or the Beach Club!  :)

Have a wonderful first (of many, I hope!) Disney vacation!
