Hey there, Denice!
Thanks so much for stopping by with this great question!
I am just so excited for you that you have booked a fabulous Walt Disney World Resort vacation. It sounds like this may be a very first vacation for a few Mouseketeers in your party, which makes this vacation even more magical.
Denice, the first place that you can start is right on the homepage of the
Walt Disney World Resort website. On the main page, there is a video that you can click on with the current advertisement. This commercial follows a bit of magic as it hits the highlights of the
50th anniversary celebrations.
While this video is great about setting the tone for your vacation, you may need to head over to trusty YouTube for some more information.
If your kids are anything like mine, they have their own favorite "Kids Youtubers." The cool thing about this is that most of these people have posted videos of themselves at Walt Disney World Resort.
Another great thing to do is to simply search areas that you think may be of interest, like the
Magic Kingdom,
Parades,
Toy Story Land, or Frozen Ever After.
Showing the kids these videos has two main purposes. It gets them excited about the trip, but it also lets them know what to expect. My oldest is 44 inches, so he is able to ride almost every ride. Just because he meets the height requirement for a ride does not mean that he is ready for it. In this case, I show him videos of some rides, like
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and let him make the call if he wants to ride it or not. This helps us plan our trip, while also preventing some mid-ride meltdowns.
If your Mouseketeers are older, I recommend letting them explore the website and picking out a few dining locations or experiences that they would like to do, allowing them to create their own "Must Do Disney" list.
I hope that this helped answer your question, Denice!
Remember, we here at planDisney are here to answer any questions to help make your trip practically perfect in every way.
