We vacationing at Disney from Dec.17 to Dec.26. We are thinking about going to Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day. Are there any special events that day? Would you recommend another park for that day?

Hi, Jenelle!  We were just having this conversation in my house, as we visit the same time every year.

I love the Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day.  Having said that, we visit the theme parks often, so it doesn't matter if we don't get to do every attraction on our list.  The park is probably more crowded on Christmas Day than on any other day.  In years past, they stop allowing guests into the Magic Kingdom when it reaches capacity, often by noon.  Dining reservations book well in advance, so if you want table service, book as soon as you are sure this is where you want to be on Christmas Day.

There isn't really anything "special" planned, but you never know where spontaneous magic might occur.  We've been in line and had Cast Member lead us in Christmas carols.  Most people are in the holiday spirit, and the mood is merry and bright!  Everything will be decorated and beautiful, and hey, you don't have to clean up after Christmas dinner!

If I was going to recommend another park, it would be EPCOT.  The park is just laid out to feel much bigger, so even if it fills to capacity, it's not as shoulder to shoulder as the Magic Kingdom seems to be.  EPCOT also is home to Holidays Around the World, so even in the attraction lines are too long, you can immerse yourself in holiday spirit with stories of Christmas traditions from around the globe.  You might also enjoy the Candlelight Processional, the retelling of the nativity by a celebrity narrator.

As long as you go in expecting to spend the holiday with a few thousand of your closest friends, arrive early in the morning, and enjoy the festive atmosphere, the Magic Kingdom is the place to be!
