We are vacationing with our children ages 4&7 in September and would like to see a great show. In your opinion, which show would they like the best, La Nouba or Hoop Dee Doo Revue? Thank you! Kim, TN

I brought my girls to Cirque du Soleil La Nouba for the first time this year. They are ages 8 and 11. They were mesmerized by the grace and artistry of the performers. Some of the acts there will take your breath away. We felt like it was worth every penny of the price. That being said, I'm glad we waited until the girls were old enough to appreciate it. The show is quite long and there is no intermission. You need to be able to sit still and quiet for the full length of the performance, not something my girls were particularly good at when they were four. Also, there are a few parts that are potentially scary to very small children. During the show I saw, there were only a few preschool age children in the audience. My suggested age for real enjoyment of the show is about age 7. You can poke around the Cirque website at cirquedusoliel.com to get more info on the show.

On the other hand, we first took our twins to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue when they were age 4. They had such a rollicking good time that we now go every year. There are songs that they knew (Hokey Pokey, This Land is Your Land) and many kid-friendly jokes to entertain. There is audience participation, with clapping and stomping that makes everyone part of the show. And because there is a dinner show, the meal breaks things up so that your kids can talk and move around a bit -- they don't have to be "good" the entire time.

As I'm sure you can see, for children age 4 & 7, I think they'd have a much better time at the Hoop.
