Can you utilize the ME luggage service/getting your boarding passes at the resort on check out day if you don't actually ride the ME to MCO? Will be renting a car but it would be nice to not have to worry about luggage/boarding passes at the airport? Thanks

Yes. On our last trip to WDW, we got our boarding passes printed at the guest relations desk at our hotel and checked our luggage in with the service at the hotel, then we took a cab to the airport (wanted to get in an extra hour of touring time).

However, in the few months since I've been back to WDW, there have been significant changes in some of the airlines' handling of luggage. For example, some carriers are now charging for checked bags. Disney does not currently have a mechanism for collecting this money, so you are no longer able to check bags for those particular airlines at your hotel. My guess is that as more airlines go in this direction, Disney will find some way to collect the airline fee. This is a situation that is changing almost weekly. So, my advice would be to discuss your situation with the guest relations desk at your hotel a few days before your departure to see what protocols are in place during the time of your visit.
