We usually buy the refillable mug the first day and use it around the different hotels when we eat, will we be able to do that with the new refillable mugs with the RFID chips in them?

Hi, Heidi!  The Walt Disney World resort refillable mugs have, for years, been intended ONLY for the resort in which they were purchased.  The mugs were not meant to be used at any other resorts except the one where you were staying.

The new Rapid Refill mugs work the same way.  The mugs are designated for use at the resort in which they were purchased.  You can purchase them for any number of days or for the length of your stay, which is added flexibility, especially for guests who like to split their time between all day park days and all day resort days.

I hope this answers you question, and that you have a wonderful visit!
