I used a MagicBand+ in WDW a couple of months ago. I am now going to Disneyland in a few days. How do I add my MagicBand+ to the Disneyland app? I am using the same account/profile but it will not let me add my MagicBand+ when linking to my account.

    Greetings, Elizabeth!

Yay! My family and I have loved using our MagicBand+ bands at both the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort. I’m sure you will be thrilled with the experience.

Experiment 626 caused a little bit of trouble with linking our MagicBand+ devices with both the My Disney Experience app and the Disneyland mobile app as well. I learned a few things along the way. Please allow me to share a few MagicBand+ troubleshooting tips that I hope may help with your issue.

    1. In general, it’s a good idea to make sure your MagicBand+ is charged when getting ready to pair it with one of the Disney Parks mobile apps. While not absolutely necessary for linking a band with your account, it is necessary for Bluetooth pairing with your mobile device and for using the Disneyland mobile app to customize your band.
    2. I recommend visiting your mobile device’s application store to verify that you have the latest version of the Disneyland mobile app installed. In some extreme cases, it may help to uninstall and reinstall the app as well.
    3. If the regular MagicBand+ setup steps aren’t working, take a look at the MagicBand+ support page on the Disneyland Resort website.
    4. If the MagicBand+ is not working, there are some steps to follow to reset or factory reset your band. This did the trick for me when my MagicBand+ wasn’t working at the Walt Disney World Resort.
    5. I found that I could not link my wife’s band to my Disneyland Resort account if it was already linked to hers. But it is also easy to unlink a MagicBand+ and link it to another account.
    6. I hate to suggest it, but I also wonder if there is a slight possibility that certain features of the Disneyland mobile app may not work as expected outside the United States. If the app is unable to reach across the pond to connect to servers in the States, it might explain why things like linking a band to your account give some frustration. Should this be the case, not to worry! The process of linking a band to your Disneyland Resort account is fairly simple and quick. You could even do it while waiting in line at the park entrance before opening.
    7. As a last resort, you may stop by any of the Guest Relations locations throughout the Disneyland Resort to seek technical assistance.

Tony’s Tip: If you don’t happen to have an international data plan for your mobile device, you may wish to take note of the locations of available Wi-Fi internet access at the Disneyland Resort.

I hope you have a wonderfully magical holiday at the Disneyland Resort, Elizabeth. Should you have any other questions we can help with here at planDisney, we’d love to hear from you again.

    See you real soon!

    ~Tony
