We used our magic bands two years ago and they were setup under my husband’s Disney experience login. I setup the reservations this year but I’m having trouble linking the kids magic bands. Is there a way to do this?

Hey there, Mackenzie! Welcome to planDisney. We're so happy you're here!

I'm thrilled to hear that you and your family are planning a magical vacation at Walt Disney World Resort! Before you know it, you'll be gazing upon Cinderella Castle and getting ready to ride your favorite attraction. But first, let's talk about how to get into the parks – specifically, with your MagicBands!

Mackenzie, your My Disney Experience account is the "hub" where all of your plans connect together. All of your reservations, including your Disney Resorts Collection hotel and advance dining reservations, are collected in your My Disney Experience account. You can find much of this information listed under My Plans! Your MagicBands are one way to access the information in your My Disney Experience. So, as long as you have a MagicBand linked to your My Disney Experience account, your MagicBand will also be linked to your reservations, allowing you to access them easily – like magic!

If you're reusing MagicBands from a previous trip, they should still be linked to the original Guests in your travel party! Since MagicBands can't be transferred to another Guest, they should already be linked to your kids, as long as they were the original owner of these MagicBands. In that case, you won't be able to link them a second time – just enjoy them! Please note that, if you are reusing MagicBands (and not the rechargeable MagicBand+), these batteries usually last between 2-3 years. Older MagicBands may still allow you to tap into the parks, but they may not be as effective when capturing Disney PhotoPass attraction photos, for example. With that being said, you may want to consider new MagicBands for your travel party for this trip!

If you have purchased new MagicBands (perhaps through shopDisney) and are looking for help to link them, head to the Link Reservations and Purchases page. As long as the Guests in your travel party are linked in your Family & Friends List, you'll be able to link and assign these MagicBands to your kids. Of course, if you run into any issues, feel free to reach out to a friendly Cast Member! They'll be happy to take a peek at your account and help you with the next steps that are available to you.

Before you arrive, take some time to download and explore the My Disney Experience app for a truly magical addition to your trip. This will allow you to check wait times for attractions, access virtual queues, and even mobile order food. This is a great way to minimize waits and maximize the fun!

If you have any other questions, please visit us again. After all, you've got a friend in me!

    See ya real soon!
