Hello! We (us& 3 young kids) are coming in June of 2012, and I'm obsessed with planning out our meal spots. I have several character meals reserved, so my question is, what are the don't-miss NON-character places? Also, any quick-service recommendation

    Hi Andrea,

I personally am fond of the Disney meals that involve interaction with your servers in a playful way. These include the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge and the 50s Prime Time Cafe at Disney's Hollywood Studios. These to me are very uniquely Disney experiences that could only happen with the input of the fabulous and fun Disney cast members.

The Whispering Canyon has BBQ and a boisterous cowboy theme, with periodic hobby horse races throughout the dining room. There are numerous jokes and routines that the servers have developed over the years. As an example of some of the shenanigans there, I'll tell you something that happened to my unsuspecting husband. He is a Diet Coke addict. On one visit to the WCC, he asked our server for a "very large" Diet Coke. Well, let's just say that one of our kids could have bathed in that soda :-)

The Prime Time Cafe has classic 50s decor and lots of American comfort food . The servers play the role of your family. "Mom" will tell you to keep you elbows of the table and mind your manners. And don't think you won't be "punished" if you don't comply ;-)

The Sci-Fi Dine-In is themed like an old drive-in movie. You sit in "cars" while you eat and get to watch clips from classic campy sci-fi films.

We like to take our girls to at least one signature dining experience each trip. Great choices are the California Grill to watch the fireworks, and Jiko to watch the animals.

My two favorite counter service restaurants at WDW are Columbia Harbor House at the Magic Kingdom and the Flame Tree at the Animal Kingdom. Also all the Epcot World Showcase pavilions have excellent eats!

These are some of my family's can't miss favorites. I hope you enjoy them too.
