Hi Leanne,
We're so glad you decided to be our guest at planDisney today! I'm thrilled to hear about your family's upcoming birthday celebrations, and can't think of a better way to toast to another year around the sun than a visit to Walt Disney World Resort. Let's make sure you can relax and pull up enough chairs at your
EPCOT table of choice.
My family dined at
Le Cellier Steakhouse for the first time last summer and absolutely loved our meal from start to finish. The Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup, Signature Poutine, and incredible Butcher's Cuts had us singing the chef's praises (and ready for a long nap) by the end of our culinary cabaret. This cozy wine cellar's atmosphere is perfect for raising a glass to your guests of honor, but
San Angel Inn Restaurante is also another excellent choice! I loved the Guacamole and Pollo a Las Rajas on my last visit, and already have my eye on the Osso Buco Con Mole Negro for when I return. The twilight sky, Mayan ruins, and ever-erupting volcano would be a magical backdrop to your son's 21st birthday celebration, made even better with one of their signature margaritas in hand.
Advance dining reservations are necessary for either of these Table Service Restaurants, but you'll need to split your group into a few smaller parties when booking. I took a look at the
current availability for Le Cellier and noticed openings for groups of up to 6 guests. If you choose to dine there, I'd try for a table of 6 and then two smaller tables (4 and 4 or even 6 and 2) at a similar reservation time. Note that you will likely need to book overlapping reservations under separate My Disney Experience accounts. When you arrive for your meal (aim to arrive a little earlier than your earliest reservation time), let the Cast Members know you're hoping to be seated with the other reservation groups. You may need to wait a bit, and while I can't guarantee they will be able to seat your entire group together, they usually do their best to work a little magic.
The same would apply for
reservations at San Angel Inn, though I found availability for a party of 8 guests, which might make things easier. Play around with the numbers and reservation times to find the right combo for your group. I'm crossing my fingers you'll be able to "tie your napkins 'round your necks" and celebrate together!
While we're in the celebratory spirit, I'd also recommend adding a little extra birthday fun with a
celebration cake or a complimentary button for your birthday boy and girl, so everyone knows who the guests of honor are. I always love saying "happy birthday" to fellow guests (or "happy 1st visit") when I notice them wearing their button proudly around the parks.
Leanne, please come back to planDisney and put our service to the test again anytime. Whether you need dining recommendations, park strategies, or even suggestions for the best photo spots, we aim to please!
Magic and memories,
Amy
