Upgrades: never in all my trips since 1971 been upgraded (nor expected) but I hear of many getting it (more then once)Just curuios how random-been there for BIG MILESTONES,4 generations, june our 27th anniversary! I am guessing "right place/right time?

Hi, Denise!  In all the trips I've taken to Walt Disney World since 1971, I have never been offered a room upgrade, either!  That might give us both an indication that they are a rare and mysterious occurrence!

Room upgrades are not often available, as they usually involve a change in view.  This means that a room with a different view than the one you have booked would have to be available in order for you to be upgraded, and in many cases, there simply isn't one available.  If you are going during a peak season (summer, holidays, spring break), there is even less of a chance that an upgrade might be available.

The people I know who have been upgraded have done a couple of things you might try.  Have it noted on your reservation when you book that this is a very special occasion.  As soon as you check in, let the cast member at the desk know how exciting this trip is, as well as what a great milestone this is for your family.  Be as polite and enthusiastic as you can, and then simply ask.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!  I hope your anniversary is very happy!
