    Can I upgrade a friend's unused, unexpired date-based ticket to an annual pass for them if our MDE accounts are linked? It's a surprise for them.

    Welcome back to planDisney! How wonderful that you are planning to surprise a friend with an Annual Pass!  

    There are multiple ways to upgrade your friend's ticket to an Annual Pass. If you are linked through your Family & Friends List, you should be able to see their tickets in your My Disney Experience app under “Tickets and Passes.” If you can’t see their tickets, make sure they go into their Family & Friends List and choose to “Share All Plans” with you. When you are viewing their ticket under “Tickets and Passes,” there should be an option to “Upgrade Pass.” If you’d rather speak to a Cast Member for assistance, you can call the number listed under “Existing Tickets,” or you can upgrade your friend’s ticket in person at any Walt Disney World Guest Relations location. 

    At this time, the only Annual Pass available for out of state residents is the Disney Incredi-Pass. The price difference must be paid in full at the time of the upgrade. The Annual Pass will appear in your friend’s My Disney account, so keep that in mind if you’re planning to keep this secret for a long time. Another option would be to gift your friend a Disney gift card in the amount needed to upgrade their ticket.
