Hiya Melissa!
Welcome to planDisney! I just went through the process of upgrading my park tickets to Magic Key passes this week (yay!) so I'm happy to share my experience.
Buying a Magic Key is the perfect way to end a day in the parks because then you know you'll be back real soon! It is possible to
upgrade an eligible ticket to a Magic Key, but there are a few "provisos" as our pal the Genie would say. The most important things to know are:
- When you upgrade your Magic Key you want to be sure you're finished in the parks, because your new pass will not have park reservations for the day.
- Your new Magic Key will be backdated to the first day you entered the park and expire one year from that date.
If you're good with those two details then let's get you upgraded! The fastest way is to use the Disneyland Mobile App. If you visit the "Tickets and Passes" screen you'll see an invitation to update an eligible pass underneath each ticket barcode. Click the link and follow the prompts on the website. As a California resident, you may be able to select a payment plan during the purchase process. Read carefully as you go along and make sure your account has your current address before starting to upgrade your ticket. But don't let the clock strike midnight on the last day you're in the parks, because then your ticket will be considered used and not eligible for upgrades.
For a little extra help upgrading your ticket, you're welcome to visit the Ticket Booths outside the parks after you're done for the day. I would suggest exiting the park and immediately using the Disneyland Mobile App to try to upgrade your ticket while you're in line at the Ticket Booths. If you get the process completed before it's your turn, great! Jump out of line and head home. If not, a Cast Member will be there to assist you.
There's still plenty of
magic coming for 2024 in the parks, Melissa! Pixar Fest runs until August 4, 2024, and then it won't be long before we're jumping into the holiday celebrations. It's a great time to be a Magic Key holder and I hope you've got many visits heading your way!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
