If I upgrade my day pass to a magic key when does my payment plan start?

A warm welcome from all of us at planDisney to you, Melissa. I’m absolutely tickled to hear that you’re interested in unlocking a year of magic and becoming a Magic Key holder!

Good news, Melissa. Depending on the type of theme park ticket you have and its value, you may be able to upgrade to a Magic Key pass. Former panelist extraordinaire Melinda shared her experience with this last year. You should be able to apply the value of your ticket (subject to eligibility) towards the down payment for your Magic Key pass. If the value of the ticket is less than the cost of the down payment, you will be required to pay the difference upfront. Next, the difference between the value of your ticket and the cost of the Magic Key you'd like to purchase will be split over the remaining months the pass is valid.

You can reach out to a friendly Cast Member at the phone line for Magic Key holders and they can break everything down for you according to your specific situation, including when your first payment will be due. Keep in mind that you'll need to complete the upgrade before the end of the last day of your ticket. The start day of your Magic Key pass will also backdate to the first day you used your theme park ticket.

I love being a Magic Key holder and love all the benefits that come along with being one. The best perk of all is knowing that I can visit the parks whenever I need to refill my cup with pixie dust. If you aren’t already, be sure to follow @disneylandmagickey on Instagram to stay updated on the latest and greatest news. The Magic Key portal in the Disneyland app is also a great way to stay updated. In fact, there's already quite the running list of current and upcoming extras in there right now.

Melissa, I hope this helps you get one step closer to your Magic Key pass. Let us know if we can help with anything else. Here's wishing the most magical year and many more visits to the parks in the future.
