Hi Joseph,
Welcome to planDisney! Sounds like you have decided to unlock the Disney magic all year long by purchasing a
Magic Key pass! When I got my Magic Key, I was also
upgrading from the So Cal 3-day ticket, so I have first hand experience with your question.
I’m happy to tell you that when you upgrade to an available Magic Key, the cost of your 3-day tickets will go toward the cost of your Magic Key. Disney allows California residents to make monthly payments on their Magic Keys. The difference in price from your 3-day tickets and the Magic Key will be divided over your remaining months with the pass. You can call the
Magic Key guest services number or the next time you head into the park, you can head to the guest services or the Ticket Booths, and a Cast Member can help you set up your monthly payments.
Keep in mind that when you upgrade to a Magic Key, the pass will be backdated to begin on the day you first used your ticket. For example, if I first use my SoCal ticket on January 1 and upgrade it on February 1, my Magic Key pass will expire on January 1, 2026—not February 1, 2026. So don’t wait too long to upgrade so you can start enjoying the Disney magic.
Once you become a Magic Key holder, be sure to take advantage of your
benefits. I love eating at the
Magic Key Terrace, an exclusive dining option for Magic Key holders. If you haven’t tried the Emperor's New Flatbread yet, I highly recommend it! It was delicious. Be sure to follow
@disneylandmagickey to see the latest offers to Magic Key holders.
Joseph, I’m so excited for you to upgrade your pass! You’re about to unlock a whole new world! If you have any other questions or need help planning, feel free to write back to me or my fellow panelists. We’d be happy to share our thoughts.
Catch ya in the parks!
