Ahoy, Daniel! Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question. Your
Disney Wish adventure will be here before you know it!
I chatted with a Cast Member today, and yes, you can use a TSA-approved lock on your checked luggage when sailing with Disney Cruise Line. Just keep in mind that all checked bags are screened before being delivered to your stateroom. If the security team needs to take a closer look inside, they’ll use their master TSA key whenever possible. But if a TSA-approved lock can’t be opened or they’re unable to access the bag, they may have to remove the lock manually, and unfortunately, they aren’t able to replace or reimburse damaged locks.
You can also lock your carry-on items, and you can bring one bag (no larger than 9” x 14” x 22”) plus a purse or briefcase, and of course your regular luggage allowance is two bags per person. You may want to take a peek at
DCL's Prohibited Items List before packing to help ensure the process goes smoothly.
The night before your cruise ends, you’ll receive instructions in the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. If you choose to use the standard luggage service (as opposed to Express Walk Off), you’ll place your bags in the hallway by 10:00 PM. I know some Guests worry about leaving them outside, but don’t worry... the stateroom hosts begin collecting luggage around 10:30 PM and move everything to a secure holding area, so those bags aren’t just sitting out all night. On disembarkation day, locked or unlocked, all luggage is scanned, and customs officials may open anything they select for inspection.
I hope this gives you peace of mind for your vacation, Daniel! And if any other questions pop up while you’re planning, be sure to sail back to planDisney. We’re always here to help.
Sea ya real soon,
Eean
