We have an unusual allergy of idoidine that includes sea salt. Can you tell me what type of salt you use in foods throughout Disney World restaurants.

    Ahoy there, Christina.

Yo ho, yo ho, it’s a Disney life for me (and you)! Shiver me timbers, I’m so glad you braved the high seas and sailed your way into planDisney. ARGH you excited about your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation? You’ll be here during the EARidescent excitement of The World’s Most Magical Celebration … If you ask me, that’s way better than finding buried treasure!

I deal with a severe food allergy myself, so I completely empathize with your situation. Thankfully, Walt Disney World Resort is fantastic with accommodating allergy-friendly requests and special dietary requests. In fact, they even have a dedicated team that assists with unique cases such as yours. At 14 days prior to your arrival, reach out to the Special Dietary Request team at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com to ask for a Special Dietary Request Form. Once you send the completed form in, they will coordinate with the restaurants you have reservations at to make sure you have a safe dining experience. Keep in mind that while restaurants take reasonable efforts to accommodate special dietary requests, there is no guarantee they will be able to do so.

Navigating dining with food allergies at Quick-Service Dining locations is a little different. Many locations do not have an allergy menu available but some may be able to provide a list of ingredients for review. Let a Cast Member know that you require a special diet consult when you arrive at a location. You may have to wait a bit longer for them to accommodate this request, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

If I were you, I would go ahead and send an email to the Special Dietary Requests team now that explains your situation. They will be able to direct you on how best to navigate your particular needs. Remember, you are allowed to bring your own snacks, food, and drinks into the parks, so that could always be a failsafe if certain restaurants cannot accommodate your needs.

I hope you'll come sail away with us again in the future, Christina. No question at planDisney walks the plank, and we are always happy to help. Enjoy every moment of your magical adventure!
