Have an unused AP. Plan to cancel. I have resort reservations in Feb 2021, so I will buy a ticket in order to make park reservations ASAP. If resort reservations open for 2020, can i use those tickets for 2021 to upgrade to an annual pass for a 2020 trip?

Hi there, Kitty! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! First of all, I want to thank you for being a loyal guest of Walt Disney World Resort. These are challenging times, and I admit to missing the magic and feeling a little like Eeyore during the temporary closure of the theme parks; I'm very anxious to return to my Happy Place soon!

I spoke with a Cast Member today, and she explained that Walt Disney World is offering Annual Passholders who have paid in full the ability to receive a partial refund for the period the parks are closed instead of an extension on their pass if they wish to cancel.  I suggest calling V.I.PASSHOLDER Support at (407) 939-7277 to see if there are any exceptions to this new policy since it sounds like your Annual Pass is not yet active. They are experiencing higher than normal call volume, so if possible, try to call when the phone lines open at 7:00 AM EST.

In regards to your second question, yes, you can apply the theme park tickets you purchase for your 2021 vacation towards an Annual Pass. These upgrades are typically done in person at any Walt Disney World Resort theme park window or the Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs, or you can use the My Disney Experience app. We've been told that new Annual Pass purchases and Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservations are being paused until further notice. However, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts are now accepting reservations for dates July 29, 2020, and beyond (and I believe they are offering some Annual Passholder discounts)! Try calling these hotels directly, as the online calendar only has dates after January 1. Walt Disney World will be releasing additional details as soon as possible, and you can continue to check the Operational Updates page for all of the latest news regarding your trip.

I hope I understood your questions correctly, Kitty! If not (or if you need further assistance), please do not hesitate to write back. See ya' real soon!
