Lisa,
The Photopass service is a great way to capture memories without taking your camera along!
As you visit the parks ask any of the Photopass photographers to take your picture. The first can give you a card that you hand to subseqent photographers so that the pictures they take of you end up in your account. You can even link multiple cards into one account. And at this point you have not spent a dime.
When you return home, just visit the Disney
Photopass website. Register, then type in your card number (or numbers, if you have more than one). Once they assign all your pictures to your account, you can view them. That is where you can order photos. You can also print the photos onto coffee mugs, mouse pads, and a long list of other items you may want to choose from. They will print them and ship them to your home.
Now you mentioned you paid a fee to have them done? Maybe you have purchased the Photopass+ or the CD program? In some of these you pre-pay to get your photos, and some bonus ones from Disney, shipped to your home after your trip is over. In others they also include photos taken from select attractions and dining experiences. But even in these cases you will still view the photos from that website.
One final point. If you are ON your trip, and want to look at your pictures, you can do that too. The parks, and select Disney resorts, have Photopass stations where they can bring your pictures up on a monitor and you can flip through them. I did that on a past trip so that my daughters and I could print out a picture and surprise their mom with it as a mid-vacation gift!
Write me back if you have any follow-up questions.
Have a magical vacation!
