Hakuna Matata, Genevieve, and that means no worries. It also means welcome to planDisney, so thanks for stopping by with this great question about one of my favorite Disney films, The Lion King. Did you know the storyline is based loosely on Hamlet? When I taught Shakespeare to sophomores, I'd show scenes of Simba and Scar as a comparison! But you'd like to know about everyone's favorite meerkat, Timon. Let's discuss some ways to catch him at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
Although Timon is often too busy hunting for delectable bugs to do meet and greets with guests, you can see this wise-cracking critter in a couple of places. My favorite way to get up close and personal with him is at
Festival of the Lion King, where he sings, dances, and jokes his way through the show. You'll also see Simba, Pumbaa, and many other jungle creatures here, and the Tumble Monkeys never disappoint.
I recently had lunch on the
Nomad Lounge porch and was thrilled to see Timon on the
Discovery River Cruise flotilla. He and Rafiki had a grand time cruising around and waving to guests, and that porch offered a birds-eye view of all the flotillas that came by. A bonus tip is that the
Impossible Sliders there are fantastic, and I'm not "lion!"
Since characters and appearances are always subject to change, I'd suggest you keep an eye on your
My Disney Experience Mobile App in case Timon decides to pop up. Tap the location icon at the bottom of your screen and choose Characters from the top drop-down menu. I like to tap Show List in the upper right to see what characters are nearby. You can also filter by theme park, so watch Disney's Animal Kingdom closely for those Lion King pals.
Genevieve, I'm sending pixie dust and grub worms so you'll see Timon on an upcoming
Walt Disney World Resort visit. Feel free to
stop by planDisney anytime! We like sharing our problem-free philosophies!
Magic awaits,
Elaine
