Debbie from MS Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I understand the first initial lightening lane purchases must be for your whole party. However, there are rides that I don't want to ride. I don't want to modify but rather not ride. Do I just tap in and not ride the ones I don't want to ride

Hi Debbie, and welcome back to planDisney! I’m not a roller coaster person, so there are always some attractions my friends will ride while I hang out on Main Street, U.S.A. with a Mickey-shaped snack.

Now, you can book different Lightning Lane selections for different people, but it’s usually easier to stay on the same schedule if everyone starts with the same ride. Anyone who wants to sit out can tap at the Lightning Lane touchpoints and leave (this is also when you can book another Lightning Lane selection). You'll tap with your MagicBand, Key to the World Card, or phone with Disney MagicMobile Service.

I recently did this at Space Mountain, since I didn’t plan on riding. I ended up walking through the queue and tapped my MagicBand at two different points. After the second touchpoint, a Cast Member directed me to the exit. If you tell the Cast Member at the Lightning Lane entrance what you’d like to do, they'll let you know how to fully scan in. Sometimes you only need to tap at the first touchpoint, but some rides have two before you can book your next Lightning Lane selection.

During your park day, sometimes you’ll find that Lightning Lane return times are no longer available for a ride you haven’t been on yet. Not to worry! Sometimes return times will pop back up throughout the day. I’ve had the best luck snagging these Lightning Lane selections by periodically refreshing the My Disney Experience app. Go to ☰ in the lower right corner and then Today’s Plans under My Visit. From here, go to the Tip Board and drag the screen down to refresh.

It looks like your Lightning Lane booking window is coming up soon, so set your alarm for the best availability! As a Disney Resort hotel guest, you can purchase Lightning Lane Passes up to seven days before check-in, for the length of your stay (up to 14 days). Booking starts at 7:00 AM Eastern Time, so don’t be late for this very important date!

Finally, don’t miss one of my favorite perks of Lightning Lane Multi Pass—complimentary digital downloads of select attraction photos and videos. These action shots are so much fun and always bring back memories of our magical vacation!

I hope you have the best day ever at Disney World next week! And don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney if you have any other questions.
