I have been unable to secure an ADR for any earlier than 9:10pm at Chef Mickeys in May. Is it an absolute must to get a ADR or do they keep a number of tables open for "walk up"? By "walk up" I mean....willing to wait for a hour or so

Hi, Ginny!  I know how frustrating it can be to try so hard to get the advanced dining reservations you want, only to find that it's not available at the time or day you hope for.

The restaurants at Walt Disney World do not hold tables open for walk up guests, but for some restaurants, walk up dining is a possibility.  The more popular restaurants, however, rarely have spots that open up - Chef Mickey's being among the popular - but occasionally, a family will have to cancel at the last minute and a table might become available.

My best advice to you is to continue calling each day to see if you can luck into a cancellation for an earlier time.  Keep trying, up until the day of your reservation.  If you want to, you can certainly head over to Chef Mickey's at an earlier time and check to see if they might have a table available, but I know for my girls, it would be dreadfully disappointing to pluck them out of the theme park unless I knew for sure we would be able to get a table.

I hope it all works out for you!
