On your mark! Get set!
Let's gooooooo! Rebecca, it sounds like you and your family are racing toward a magical time this weekend. I'll also be there running on Sunday with my planDisney friends. I can't wait!
Whether running or spectating, you can find all the
whoozits and
whatzits you need to know in the
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend guide. The fireworks are set to kick off the 10-miler in high style at 5 a.m. for athletes in Corral A. All runners should be on the course by 6:11 a.m. With a 16:00-minute pace requirement, you can expect all athletes to cross the finish line before or around 8:50 a.m. Knowing your favorite athlete's start times and their general pace can help you plan when you need to arrive at
EPCOT to cheer them on.
You can use Uber or another rideshare service to get to EPCOT for the race. Security, Cast Members and signs will help direct traffic to the parking and drop-off locations. In past races, the rideshare drop-off has been near the buses.
On Sunday,
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park opens for
Early Theme Park Entry at 7:30 a.m., and
Disney's Hollywood Studios and
Magic Kingdom Park open an hour later. With people running the 10-miler and people running to "Rope Drop," you can expect traffic delays as you try to get to EPCOT if you plan to arrive near the end of the race. Typically, I would plan an additional 15-20 minutes to make it to the parking lot.
According to the maps, there are two spectator viewing areas: the Start Line (Rocket Parking Lot) and that glorious Finish Line (Eve Parking Lot). All Guests – athletes and spectators alike – will go through security at EPCOT on their way to their
runDisney destination. The path to Spectator Viewing will be marked with signage, and happy Cast Members will be on hand (and maybe with Mickey gloves) to help guide you to the viewing areas.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful time at the most magical place to race!
Every Mile is Magic!
