We have two kids, 5 & 2 and are trying to choose a moderate resort best for that age. I love the pirate theme of the CBR , the pool looks perfect for their age, plus the beach, but I've also heard great reviews for the POR. Any suggestions?

    Hi Shelly!

Your kids are wonderful ages for enjoying Walt Disney World! Your kids are going to have a blast!

I've stayed at both Caribbean Beach Resort (CBR) and Port Orleans (POR) and they are both lovely resorts. They both offer benefits and have different pros and cons.

CBR is great for pirate fans, as the pool and resort are wonderfully themed. You can even request one of the special pirate rooms, which have a bed shaped like a pirate ship, doubloons on the bedspread, nautical barrels and plank carpet. There is even a skull and crossbones curtain separating the bedroom from the bathroom. If you have a pirate fan in your party, request this room! CBR also has a beach, pirate splash area for kids and water slides.

POR is divided into POR Riverside and POR French Quarter. The Riverside section has the option to request a Royal Guest Room, which has a princess theme. If you have princess fans in your party, this is a great option. The room is themed after Princess and the Frog, as the movie is set in the Bayou of Louisiana, the same as this resort. The room is beautifully themed and even has fiber optic fireworks in the bed's headboard. This resort also has an option to take a ferry boat to Downtown Disney, which is really cool. You can also rent surrey bikes, experience The Bayou Pirate Adventure, old fashioned carriage rides and a Canjun Campfire. There are also a ton of recreation activities, including cane pole fishing, movies, arcade and live entertainment in the evenings.

Both resorts are wonderful and your choice will really depend on the interests in your party. If you have pirate fans, you won't want to pass up CBR. I hope you have a magical vacation.

    Magically,
    Stacy
