I have two kids who love the MagicBand extras with PlayDisney at the parks, but I’m struggling with how the three of us can all use our Magic Bands to Bounty Hunt or play games in the Play Disney app. Help?

Hi Kate! Thanks for returning to planDisney with another question!

In my experience, the Play Disney Parks app isn’t mandatory to participate in the Batuu Bounty Hunters activity, but it does add some fun elements to gameplay. If your kids do not have My Disney Experience accounts, they can still approach the bounty board in Batuu and scan their MagicBand+ to accept a job. When using the Play Disney Parks app, you can see additional details about your bounty.  Your kids will need to follow the lights and buzzes from their MagicBands to guide them to their targets. The MagicBands will light up green if they are getting closer or red if they are moving in the wrong direction. Once they find their target, their bands will light up purple. Once a target is found, the Play Disney Parks app can be used as a “thermal scanner” to view the found target, so if they are not using the app, they will miss out on this detail. Any credits earned through this activity will also not be saved if they do not have their own account. We did this activity with my young son using only his MagicBand+, and he still enjoyed using the lights of his MagicBand+ to find his intended targets. Another option would be to log in to your account on the Play Disney Parks app and have your kids take turns with your MagicBand+ to find the bounties.

Several games in the Play Disney Parks app will only “unlock” once you are in or near the queue of the attraction. When I have played, only one person needs to have the app open to play the games. You can add the names of players before starting the game, and the game will prompt you to hand the device to the next player for their turn.

You can create a Disney account for your kids to use on the Play Disney Parks app associated with a parent’s e-mail address. However, there is no way to have two accounts signed in at the same time, so you’ll need to switch between accounts during an activity like Batuu Bounty Hunters.

I hope this was helpful, Kate. Did you know you can play Disney Parks Trivia at home on the Play Disney Parks app? This might be a fun activity to play as a family in preparation of your upcoming trip! If you have any more questions as you continue to plan, come back and see us at planDisney
