with two finicky eaters (13 and 9) I chose to use the QSDP. I have one more question. On snacks when you're in the parks can you stop at the stands and chose anything on the menu or just the popcorn, pop etc. listed on the chart?

Many, but not all, of the items sold at snack carts in the theme parks qualify as snacks on the Disney Dining Plan. Anything that qualifies as a snack will be indicated with a special little snack symbol on the menu -- it looks like a purple and white checkerboard. Popcorn and soda are some of the items that usually count as snacks, but you can also get pastries in the France pavilion at Epcot, ice creams, French fries in some places, single serve cereal boxes, candy in many places. The list goes on and on. Just look for the purple checkerboard and you'll be thrilled with how many snack options you'll see everywhere.
