I have two children who are 9 and 6 years old and we are going to Disney in May for the very first time. I am just wondering if purchasing the Dining Package would be worth it or not.

    Hi Melissa,

The question about the Disney Dining Package is an interesting one.  I have toured using it and not using it, and really it depends on your family.

If you children are big eaters or if you like to go to fancier restaurants, then the Dining Plan is a good deal.  Your children would pay approximately $11 a day on the Basic Plan.  It is hard to feed anyone for $11 at Disney World with a sit down meal.

I would go to Allearsnet.com and look at the menus for the restaurants you have Advance Dining Reservations for and make up a "mock" bill for your meals.  This should give you a fairly accurate price you would pay during your trip.  If it is close, I would buy the Basic Dining Plan.

For my family, the Deluxe Plan does not work because they will not eat three meals a day on vacation, and I would not spend that much time eating while in the parks.  We usually eat breakfast before we head out for the day, grab lunch on the go and then have a sit down dinner every night.  We have lots of snacks in between but again these are on the go.  My girls are 11 and 9 now, and we have been on this pattern for about seven years.

I hope this helps and enjoy your magical vacation in just a few short months!
