Welcome aboard, Anna! Disney Cruise Line has lots of ways for families to
stay in touch while onboard their ships and at Castaway Cay!
Each stateroom is provided with two complimentary Wave Phones. These phones work as phones and can also text both onboard and at Castaway Cay. If you'd like to use more than two Wave Phones per stateroom, you can request additional Wave Phones at Guest Services for an additional fee.
An easier way to stay in touch is through the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. If your two kids have their own mobile devices, you can each download the app to your devices before you arrive at the port. Then, once onboard, everyone can access the DCL-GUEST WiFi that allows free use of the app onboard. Other internet surfing for anything besides the Navigator App requires the purchase of an internet package onboard. But, since my family and I like to unplug when we're at sea, we don't buy internet time, but simply use the Navigator App. Not only does it show the fun activities and events going on, but also menus, maps, and our favorite feature, the Disney chat feature through the app. My husband can text me that he's waiting at Quiet Cove Pool, and I can let him know that I'm dropping the kids off at the Oceaneer Club for Pluto's Pajama Party, and I can even include an emoji of Pluto! My daughter gets a kick out of texting me that she's ready to head out of the clubs, and using every emoji she can possibly imagine! There are all sorts of fun Disney emojis to play with. If your kids text, they'll find this texting through the free app much easier and more fun than the Wave Phones!
Have fun as you continue planning your cruise, Anna. I hope that information helps as you get ready to set sail!
