I am trying to get into running and would like to start slow. I love Disney so I was wondering what 5ks they offer?

A huge congratulations Thomas on starting to run! Disney is the perfect spot to have your magical first race memories. People of all abilities run the Disney races, from beginner right through to elite runners. And it truly can be a family affair! One year my daughter did the kids races, my parents the 5 km and I ran the half marathon.

Your first stop is to check out the runDisney website. Here you'll find information on all upcoming races at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. You can also register right on the site. Coming up soon on September 30, 2011, is the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend. If you sign up for the 5 km, chances are good you'll see some Moms Panel members, as several of us will be running the Hallowe'en 5km on the morning of October 1st!

If that's too soon for your schedule, you might want to consider the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend January 5-8, 2012.  The Family Fun Run 5k takes place on January 6, 2012.  Another one you might want to consider is the Princess Half Marathon. Don't let the name fool you, it's for both princes and princesses alike. The weekend is February 24-26, 2012, and the Royal Family 5k is on February 25.

Hope this helps Thomas! A Disney race/vacation is the ideal motivation. Happy running!
