While trying to make a reservation for a party of 7 there is no availability, but when I change the party size to 6 there are multiple times available. Should I make it for six and ask for a chair when we get there? We have two small children.

Hi, Elizabeth! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks for stopping by with your question. I am so glad you are planning ahead for your grand gathering with the family! There are so many amazing restaurants all across Walt Disney World Resort and some of them do book up well in advance. I do have a few tips for you to help you make your dining adventure practically perfect in every way.

You do need to include an accurate count of all guests when making dining reservations. Not only is it important so that you have room for everyone at your table, but also so that Cast Members can make sure the total dining room guest count stays within regulations. If they are reaching capacity, then they may not be able to accommodate your request to add on a guest. In my experience, a party of seven is usually sat at a table for eight or more, while a party of five or six are sat at a table for six. Cast Members can sometimes accommodate an extra guest if you are sat at a larger table. However, adding an extra guest when you are already at the limit for that table can frequently not be done.

I recommend you continue watching for an available reservation that meets your needs. Guests change their plans often, particularly in the final week or two before their trips. You never know what pixie dust may come your way! You could also snag a reservation for a party of four and have someone else in your group make a reservation for a party of three. Arrive early to your meal and let the Cast Members know that the two reservations are together and they will do their best to seat you at adjacent tables or combine two tables. I have had many great experiences with doing this!

Thanks again for stopping by and please let us know if you have any other questions!
