Just trying to see if you have a recommended packing list. My teen son is going with school band and want to make sure he has everything

    Hiya, Mandy! Welcome to planDisney!

Oh boy – I love this question, Mandy, because that means that your son's trip to Walt Disney World Resort isn't too far away! There's nothing quite like putting the finishing touches of pixie dust on an already-magical vacation. Let's talk about all of the gadgets and gizmos a'plenty your son can bring on his trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth!

While there isn't an official list of recommended items I can send you, I can absolutely tell you what's always on my personal packing list (aside from the standard items, like clothes and a toothbrush, that one would expect to bring)! These are things that will help your son feel prepared for any adventure on his trip with his school band.
    • A small, lightweight backpack with one or two zippers. Since his bag will be checked when he goes through security (and every zipper opened), I like to keep my bags simple and minimal to help go through this process quickly!
    • A poncho or light rain jacket. Rain showers are common in Florida and can sometimes be heavy (but fast!). This will help to make sure he doesn't miss a minute of the magic.
    • A comfy pair of sneakers (and a backup pair). With the potential for a lot of walking, blisters can be real! If your son does a lot of walking one day or gets caught in a rain shower, he might want a different pair of shoes to change into on the following day.
    • Similarly, my husband showed me the benefits of bringing along a few small pieces of Moleskin for any blisters, which magically make me feel like I can walk for miles again!
    • A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for protection from the sun.
    • An external battery charger for his phone. Trust me, he'll use his phone a LOT between taking pictures of his adventures and using the My Disney Experience app. This app will help him unlock everything that Walt Disney World has to offer, from checking wait times, viewing park maps, and even mobile ordering food!
    • Hand sanitizer. Your son will be touching doors, handrails, and ride vehicles – and while there's a lot of magic to be found at Walt Disney World Resort, germs are not one of them.
    • Consider a few natural motion sickness remedies or cough drops, just in case!
    • Be sure to take a look at the list of prohibited items at Walt Disney World Resort.
I hope I was able to point you in the right direction, Mandy! Of course, there are plenty of packing lists that you can find online that might help spark some ideas that might be just right for your son. And if you have any other questions, please write to us again! After all, you've got a friend in me.

    See ya real soon!
