Trying to plan a weekend trip for my girlfriend and I. Was wondering the age minimum for booking a resort room and if cash and/or debit cards are accepted while making reservations.

Hi, Anthony! I'm glad you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I bet your girlfriend will be so excited when she hEARs that you're planning to see Mickey and his pals soon!

The minimum age to book a Walt Disney World Resort hotel room is 18 years of age. Guests who visit the "House of the Mouse" can certainly use a debit card as long as it has a credit card option, like Visa or MasterCard, on it. You can also use your debit card at check-in to link to your MagicBand to pay for incidentals throughout your Walt Disney World Resort stay.  Just make sure to read through the Payment Card Policy, which was instituted this year, and allows Walt Disney World Resort to place incremental authorization holds on your payment card for estimated incidental expenses. Guests always have the option of not putting a credit or debit card on file, but you will be unable to use your MagicBand for charging at the resort or in the Parks. What I would recommend is to visit the Front Desk nightly to apply cash against your balance due to avoid actual charges being placed on your debit card.

To reserve your resort hotel room ahead of time, you will need to put down a deposit on your debit card, which will be due at the time of booking.  It is typically equal to one night's stay plus tax; the balance for a "Room Only" reservation would be due at the time of check-in, and this you can pay in cash at your Walt Disney World Resort hotel.

Disney Gift Cards are also a convenient way to help pay for your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation. Although Disney Gift Cards cannot be added to your My Disney Experience account, they can be used to pay down your balance once you arrive at your resort hotel. You can also use Disney Gift Cards at most Walt Disney World dining and merchandise locations. However, it's important to retain any gift cards used to make purchases or payments as all refunds will be returned to the original form of payment used.

I hope this helps, Anthony! Have a magical stay, and please let us know if there's anything else we can help you with. See ya' real soon!
