We are trying to plan a trip this summer with our kids 11, 9, 6 and bring grandma who needs a wheelchair. We have been in the parks before with a wheelchair, but which resort is most wheelchair friendly considering distance from room to transportation?

Hi, Tina! Thanks for visiting me here on the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I'm so happy to hear that grandma will be joining your family on vacation! It sounds as if there will be a total of 6 guests in your party and that will mean booking two separate rooms or a family suite. Currently, there is a Walt Disney World Special Offer for resort stays through June 14th of this year.

My first suggestion would be the Contemporary Resort. The monorail runs right through the center of the resort's lobby and takes you directly to Magic Kingdom as well as the Transportation and Ticket Center (where you would switch monorail lines to go to Epcot). The monorail is the most efficient and convenient form of transportation for guests using wheelchairs. You would take the complimentary bus transportation to Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom theme parks. Also, if you're staying at the Contemporary Resort, you have the option to use the convenient walkway to Magic Kingdom.

My second suggestion would be the Beach Club Resort near Epcot. The resort is located adjacent to the "back" entrance to Epcot. Complimentary water taxi transportation is available to Hollywood Studios. You would take a bus to the Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom theme parks.

If your budget doesn't allow for a Deluxe Resort stay, not to worry because all Disney World Resorts offer wheelchair-accessible transportation. You may want to check out the wonderfully themed Family Suites at Disney's Art of Animation Resort which accommodate up to six guests.

Here's an important tip: When you book your resort stay, be sure to request a building closest to transportation and ask that this request be noted on your reservation.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
