I am trying to plan a trip with my 1.5y.o and 3 y.o, but am hesitant, because they need their eating and nap schedule. How can I get them to nap in a regular hotel room, is a villa worth it for the extra space? ( They have never napped in a stroller)

When my kids were toddlers, they would never fall asleep easily (for naptime or bedtime) if I was in the room with them. If they saw me, they thought it was playtime. Because of this, I used to spend a lot of time hiding in hotel bathrooms when we traveled. Really, I would take a pillow and a blanket and the New York Times crossword puzzle and camp out (fully clothed) in the tub until they fell asleep. Oh what we do for our children ;-)

From my perspective, our vacations got a lot better when we started staying larger accommodations. Now that we are Disney Vacation Club members, we usually stay in villa rooms. This works perfectly for our family, but sometimes we also stay in two connecting regular hotel rooms rather than the villas. (And we always do this when we travel to places other than WDW.) Either the villas or two regular rooms works equally well for sleep purposes. The main thing you need is a separate room with a door that you can close to keep the kids contained when they're falling asleep. My husband and I also love that with two rooms we can stay up and chat or watch a movie (the villas have DVD players) after the kids are asleep without being afraid that we are disturbing them.

The bonus of the villa over the two-room set up is that with a villa you also get the full kitchen and washer/dryer. The advantage of two-rooms over the villa is that with the villa, inevitably someone will end up sleeping on the sofabed.
