I am trying to plan a trip for my family that includes two adults and four children (Dec 21-Dec 23). Every time I check the prices of the various hotels keep increasing. I am curious as to why that is especially when I thought prices would be going down?

    Hi Johanna,

Being that I'm an accountant, and I'm always on the lookout for ways to get the most bang for my buck, I got excited to see your question.

In my opinion, you may be noticing upticks in the prices because of two reasons:

    (1) The weeks around Christmas are some of the most popular times of year to visit Walt Disney World; and

    (2) Because that's one of the most popular times of the year to visit, the supply of rooms is probably shrinking quickly as the demand for those rooms is increasing (since the Holidays aren't too far away).

If I were in your shoes, I'd go ahead and book your vacation as soon as possible. That way, you'll lock in at a rate that will likely be lower than the rate you'd have to pay if you continue to wait. Plus, by booking now, you'll have more resort hotel options to choose from compared to what may be available as we approach the Holiday season.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

If you book your vacation now, but later see some special offer being made available for the time of your vacation, feel free to call Walt Disney World's central reservation office at: (407) 934-7639 and ask if they can apply that offer to your reservation as well.

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
