I am trying to plan a trip to Disney but feel overwhelmed by the choices. We have a 9 year old and six year old. we probably only want to stay three nights. So we were thinking animal kingdom and the magic kingdom. Can someone guide me in the direction

    Hi there, Raissa!

I am so glad you’re here; once you get the hang of planning a magical vacation, it becomes part of the fun!

You can get a lot done in three nights, but one of the most important things I tell first-time visitors is not to do it all in one trip. I’m glad you’ve chosen two very magical Parks to visit in that time! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and Magic Kingdom Park are wonderful! Once you have your Theme Park tickets, be sure to make your Disney Park Pass reservations. You can check for theme park availability on the dates you’re thinking about visiting here. For both parks, I encourage you to get to the Parks bright and early. You’d be surprised at how much you can accomplish getting to the Parks as they open! Here is a Park Hour Calendar; do be sure to check it before your trip as Park hours change as needed.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is incredible. My own Mouseketeers love Kilimanjaro Safaris and nothing beats visiting Pandora to ride on the back of a banshee on Avatar Flight of Passage! I suggest getting to the latter first thing in the morning because it is one of the most popular attractions. If your Mouseketeers aren’t able to ride some of the attractions, look into Rider Switch Service.

Magic Kingdom Park brings some of our favorite stories to life! My family likes to make a dining reservation here and there are many options. One of the most popular being Be Our Guest Restaurant where you dine inside Beast’s castle from the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast! In case you’re interested in dining, be sure to make your Advanced Dining Reservations. In both Parks, I like to map out all the attractions that might interest my family and prioritize those.

Staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel is the absolute greatest and there is a hotel for all budget types. Might I suggest Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village? It’s close to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and offers Savanna View rooms that allow you to see the animals from your room’s balcony!

Be sure to download My Disney Experience Mobile app to help you plan. Through the app, you’re able to place mobile orders at select restaurants, make dining reservations and so much more!

Raissa, if you have any more questions for us, we’re all ears!
