I am trying to plan my family's first Disneyworld vacation for October 2012. Is it better to book hotel, dining, tickets as a package or book everything individually to save money?

    Hi Lisa,

Other than ease of paperwork, there are no particular advantages to having the components of your vacation put together as a package or selected a la carte. Personally, I'd go for the route that's least expensive.

As a first step, you should look at the Disney website or call 407-W-DISNEY to get a package quote. Then go ahead and do some research. Look at travel aggregators such as expedia.com or orbitz.com. Use the Least Expensive Ticket calculator at TouringPlans.com. Look for discount codes on MouseSavers.com. Check out the Disney restaurant menus at AllEars.net and DisneyFoodBlog.com to see how much meals cost.

Once you've got all your data, you can decide whether it's cheaper to get the package as a whole, or buy the parts separately. If the least expensive method is purchasing components individually, then you should go ahead and do that.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
