I am trying to plan a family vacation for a family of 4 which includes myself. It will be the first time for my family and I attending Walt Disney World, my husband I wanted to know should we just plan for our family or should we include our extended fami

Hi, Juanita!  I love traveling with my extended family, because from my perspective, the more people you have with you, the more magic you feel.  Having said that, I REALLY like the members of my family that have vacationed with me.  My brother has two boys close in ages to two of my girls, and they all get along really well together.  I travel often with either my parents or my in-laws because the kids love sharing their favorite Walt Disney World experiences with Grandmom and Pop-Pop, plus, there is the added bonus of the grandparents offering to keep the girls one night while my husband and I enjoy a special dinner together.

With a large enough group (a minimum of eight guests ages three or older), you can plan a Grand Gathering, which gives you the opportunity to experience some things reserved only for larger parties.  Some of the special activities include the Good Morning Gathering character breakfast or the Safari Celebration Dinner.

Know ahead of time that traveling with a larger parties can pose some challenges.  You will definitely have to plan your sit down meals ahead of time to insure the best possible chance that you will get the dining experiences you hope for.  You should also plan some time apart so that you don't get tired of all of that togetherness!

If you decide to extend the vacation to include other family members, just make sure they are folks you get along with.  It's great fun for our family to travel with extended family, and I love the magical memories we've made!
