Hi Jennifer!
My boys absolutely love the bead activities at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas. I think each Disney resort has it’s own special magic that makes it unique, and with Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, the educational activities are pretty spectacular. In my experience, Disney Vacation Club resorts that have a Community Hall seem to have the largest variety of options since they have additional recreational staff and offer games, crafts and other special activities.
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort is a popular choice for families, but it is not actually a Disney Vacation Club Resort. It is considered a Moderate level resort. At this time, it does not have a Community Hall. You will however find beautiful themed pools at both Riverside and French Quarter. There are also playgrounds, fishing experiences and movies under the stars at the resort. I think kids enjoy both resorts, but I like the feel of the Ol’ Man Island swimming hole at Riverside.
If you will booking with Disney Vacation Club Points, and would like to be near Downtown Disney, you should consider
Disney’s Old Key West Resort or
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. Both resorts offer boat service directly to Downtown Disney, and have a Community Hall. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa has not one but two feature pools and is an easy walk over the pedestrian bridge to Downtown Disney. Both Resorts offer bike rentals, fishing opportunities and evening campfire activities. My kids love marshmallow roasting by the fire, and enjoyed their stay at both of these resorts.
Whichever resort you choose, you are sure to have a magical vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort!
