Trying to pick a 2 bedroom villa for our Nov. 2010 trip. Stayed at OKW in 08, really enjoyed it. Considering OKW again or AK or WL. What do you think - DH, DD 9, DD - 6, and DS 3. Thanks so much, love your panel!

    Hi Allyson,

There are certainly Old Key West devotees out there, but I have to say that I'd choose Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness, the Beach Club, the Boardwalk, and Bay Lake Tower over OKW. The OKW rooms are slightly larger than those at the other DVC resorts, but they are also older and a bit more removed from the fun at WDW. When choosing between the AKL and WL, here are some things to think about:

    - The Wilderness Lodge has direct boat service to the Magic Kingdom, Contemporary, and Fort Wilderness. If you're going to spend much of your time at the MK, have reservations meal reservations at the Contemporary, or will be taking in the Hoop Dee Doo Revue, the boats really speed up transportation.

    - For dining, the WL and the AKL are my two favorite resorts. If you want to dine more at Boma and Jiko, choose AKL. If you want Whispering Canyon (GREAT for kids) and Artist Point, choose WL.

    - WL has a great walking or bike path over to Fort Wilderness. A nice down-time activity is walking over to the petting zoo there.

    - AKL has the savannah-view rooms. There's nothing quite like waking up in the morning and seeing a giraffe out your window.

    - The AKL is a bit physically removed from the rest of WDW. If you're staying there (and most especially if you're staying at the AKL Kidani Village), you should seriously consider renting a car. I stayed at Kidani in September and felt a car was a true imperative.

    - The pools at AKL are slightly larger than WL, but WL is still pretty great.

    - There are water related sports and recreation at the WL. I LOVE renting the Sea Raycer boats at the WL and driving them close up to the Magic Kingdom. It's a super way to see the park from a different angle.

Personally, for a second 2-br villa experience, I would choose the Wilderness Lodge. But you really can't go wrong with either choice.

    Enjoy!
