Welcome to planDisney, Nicole! I’m sorry to hear you’re running into trouble connecting your
MagicBand+. I’ve been in a very similar situation after a visit to Walt Disney World, so you’re definitely not alone here. Let’s walk through a few steps together to help get everything linked and ready for your Disneyland visit.
It sounds like you’ve already done all the right troubleshooting (charging, resetting, and updating), which is a great start. One issue I’ve personally run into is that a MagicBand+ previously linked through a Walt Disney World trip may still be tied to that account. If your party has used multiple
MyDisney accounts with the Walt Disney World Resort
My Disney Experience Guest profile and vacation plan management system, it can prevent the band from linking properly in the
Disneyland app.
A helpful next step is to unlink the MagicBand+ from your Walt Disney World profile and then reconnect it in the Disneyland app. Here’s how you can do that:
First, open the Disneyland app and tap the “☰” menu. From there, select the MagicBand+ section while logged into the account where the band is currently linked. Tap on the specific MagicBand+ you want to manage (making sure you’re selecting the band itself, not the ticket or pass connected to it). Scroll down and tap “Unlink.”
Next, on the device where you’d like to relink the band, head back into the MagicBand+ section of the Disneyland app. Tap the “+” in the top corner, then choose “Open Scanner to Link.” You can also select “Type ID” if you prefer to manually enter the ID located on the inside of the band. Follow the prompts to complete the setup and assign it to your ticket or pass.
Once that’s done, your MagicBand+ should be ready to go for everything from park entry to those fun interactive moments around the resort (like
bounty hunting in Batuu, which adds a little extra adventure to your day).
If you’re still seeing that error message after trying these steps, I’d recommend reaching out to a Cast Member through the “Chat With Us” feature in the app. There’s a technical support option for MyDisney account issues, and they’re fantastic at digging into those trickier situations. You can also call
App & Online Support if you prefer speaking with someone directly.
Nicole, I hope this helps get everything connected so you can focus on the fun part: enjoying your time at the Disneyland Resort! If any other questions pop up as you get ready, we’re always delighted to help you plan your Disneyland adventures.
Wishing you a smooth setup and a magical day!
David
