We are trying to keep our budget in check. If you could choose only one, would you upgrade from All Star Movies to Port Orleans (to save bus travel time for naps) or use the money to go to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party? DS's 7, 3 & DD 1. Than

Hi, Megan!  Okay, I should start by telling you I am an enormous fan of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  It is probably my second most favorite thing at all of Walt Disney World, behind only the EPCOT Candlelight Processional at Christmas time.

The size of your room at either resort is going to be very similar in size, so I think that would be a wash for me.  The buses may be a bit of an issue, but Walt Disney World works very hard to make sure there is an adequate supply of bus transportation between the theme parks and resorts, and if you are planning to go back in the middle of the day, you shouldn't encounter the same kind of crowds waiting to get on the buses as you would first thing in the morning or when the parks close at night.

I would probably use the extra money to do the Halloween Party.  For my girls, this is a must do event.  They love the trick or treating and the character interaction; and the Halloween parade is so wonderful - entirely different from the parade you will see during the day at the Magic Kingdom.

Also, with your party ticket, you can actually go into the Magic Kingdom beginning at 4 o'clock, even though the party doesn't begin until seven.  This may actually save you a day of park passes, as we usually use the early part of the day to relax at the pool, grab a quick lunch at Downtown Disney, and do a little souvenir shopping before retreating back for a nice nap before the party.  With the party going from 4-midnight, that's really a full day for my kids!

I hope you have a wonderful time, no matter what you decide!
