Hi Jeannette!
Congratulations on your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World! There are a
few changes and enhancements to Disney dining experiences to ensure the health and safety of all Guests and Cast Members. One of those changes includes the restaurants that are offering character dining experiences.
Currently, character dining experiences are located at
Chef Mickey's,
Garden Grill,
Hollywood & Vine,
Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White,
Topolino’s Terrace, and
Tusker House. You can make an advanced dining reservation up to 60 days in advance. Given that you are visiting April 10-15, you can definitely make your advanced dining reservations now, either
online or by calling 407-WDW-DINE. When you visit the link online, you can even
filter by "Character Dining" to see your choices for dining with the characters. From there, click on "Check Availability," sign-in, and select your preferred date, time, and party size. You can play around with those factors to find a character dining experience during your vacation. For example, you mentioned that it's possible that only two adults will be dining rather than three; as such you can make these adjustments within the tool to see if that changes the availability.
I have a few tips for you that may make scoring a reservation a bit easier. First, look for a reservation during an "off" time, such as 2pm. Second, you may be more likely to get a reservation at a restaurant located in a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel than one at the parks. I suggest Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera, which is located at
Disney's Riviera Resort. While Chef Mickey's is located at Disney's Contemporary Resort, it is extremely popular and it's difficult to get a reservation. Even if a reservation is not available now, you can keep checking back, as availablity opens up frequently. My last little tip is to use the
Mobile Dine Walk-Up Availability feature within the
My Disney Experience mobile app on your phone when you are in the parks! You may be able to score a walk-up spot!
I hope you have a magical vacation!
Magically,
Stacy
