Hi there, B! We're glad to see you back here at planDisney! There are many factors to consider when planning the perfect multi-generational family trip to Walt Disney World, and budgeting usually sits at the top of the list. I'm happy to provide you with a few suggestions!
When traveling with a large family, it's tempting to want to stay together, but this will limit your options a bit. Family suites sleep families of 6 plus a child under age 3 in a crib, so if one of the kiddos is still a toddler or infant, this will be your best bet. The newly refurbished Family Suites at
Disney's All-Star Music Resort look fantastic, and they include:
*A bedroom with one queen-size bed.
*A living area with a double-size sleeper sofa.
*A sleeper chair.
*A sleeper ottoman.
*A kitchenette and two bathrooms.
Personally, I prefer the privacy to unwind and relax at the end of the day. If this fits your style as well, consider booking two connecting standard-sized rooms (these will sleep up to 4 guests each) at any of the Value Resorts. By the time of your visit, all three of Disney's All-Star properties will be renovated. I also like
Disney's Pop Century Resort. While the price is slightly higher than the All-Stars, it is conveniently located next to the
Disney Skyliner transportation system, which the grandkids will love (and you will, too).
Finally, a third idea is to stay in one of the
Deluxe Villa Resorts, such as
Disney's Old Key West Resort or
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. Sometimes you can find discounts on these villas through the
Special Offers page. You can book these directly through the Walt Disney World website, but because they are also Disney Vacation Club properties, you can often find companies to help you rent points, which will usually save you some money. Just do your research and pick a reputable broker with good reviews. The 2-bedroom villas will sleep up to 8-9 guests, and they have a full kitchen. If you are driving your car, you can run to the grocery store (or, if not, order groceries online). Plan to eat in a few of the nights to save some dough, and then treat the Mouseketeers to a fun dessert (my favorite place is
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop)!
Our panelists have lots of tips and tricks for traveling with large families. It sure would be swell if we could help you again, B!
