Hi, Tania!
A cruise to
Alaska is such an amazing experience. I don't think I was prepared for just how beautiful the views would be. You are in for a real treat with so much to see and exciting
Port Adventures to choose from. Have your camera ready at all times as you never know what unexpected wildlife or breathtaking view you might see during your Disney Cruise.
SW01 (Adventure Park and Zip Lines) and
SW23 (Grizzly Falls Ziplining Expedition) are both wonderful excursions for thrill seekers. Adventure Park has 5 zip lines and lasts about 3.5 hours and Grizzly Falls has 10 ziplines with your adventure taking about 4.5 hours. When I was in Alaska with my family, we did the Grizzly Falls option. We liked the fun 4x4 truck that took us to the base camp for our training and then it was off to the fun! Either option will be great, so it is really up to you. Grizzly Falls is a bit further of a drive, so if you prefer something closer to the ship you might prefer Adventure Park. Please also compare pricing to see what is better for your travel budget.
I have ziplined in many locations, but I found Alaska to be the most thrilling with the heights and views! I have attached a podcast that I did with some of my planDisney pals where I talk a bit about my Alaskan adventure...take a quick peek!
Please be prepared when going on any of the Port Adventures. Plan on closed toes hiking boots or shoes, long pants are often required, and a backpack to carry all your extra gear (phones, chargers, wallets, and cash for tips or other purchases). You may also want to have a water bottle and rain gear packed.
Speaking of rain gear, please be ready for any weather in Alaska. You will need to plan for rain, sun, heat, and cold - sometimes all in the same day! Dress in layers for your best options to change along with the weather. During my Alaskan cruise (mine was early June) we even had a day that was warm enough for a dip in the pool so pack your swimsuits for those unexpected warm and sunny Alaskan days!
Tania, Alaska is truly amazing and you and your family are in for the adventure of a lifetime. Please stop back to planDisney if you have any other travel questions.
