Trying to decide between staying at the Carribean Beach or Wilderness Lodge for our October trip to Disney with our 4 year old son. In the morning will the boat skip Wilderness Lodge if it gets full from the campground? Which has better pool?

    Hi Susan,

I frequently stay at the Wilderness Lodge (including several times during the busy Christmas and Thanksgiving holiday weeks) and have never once encountered a problem with crowding on the boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom, Fort Wilderness, or Contemporary. It would also be very likely that the boat would skip the WL entirely because many guests on the boat will be using it to get to the fun breakfast at the WL Whispering Canyon Cafe.

As for the pools, the pools themselves are fairly similar, with moderate-sized water slides. The Caribbean Beach resort does have an interactive children's aquatic play area that's pretty perfect for a four year old, which the WL does not. However, the footprint of the CB is so large that your room might not be anywhere near the main pool area. You can see photos of the WL pool here: http://blog.touringplans.com/2013/05/22/get-to-know-the-disney-world-pools-part-four-the-deluxe-and-villa-resort-pools/  And photos of the CB pool here: http://blog.touringplans.com/2013/05/16/get-to-know-the-disney-world-pools-part-three-the-moderate-resort-pools/

Personally, the themeing at the Wilderness Lodge is my favorite in all of Walt Disney World. The WL also holds two of my favorite restaurants on property, so that's where I'd stay. But if budget issues or the kids' water play area make the Caribbean Beach Resort a more appealing choice, then you'll have a great time there as well.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know what else we can do to help.
