Hi Moms! Trying to check availablity/make dining reservations online at California Grill and for Tomorrowland Fireworks Dessert Party, but EVERY date indicates no times available (even 180 days out). Is that normal or do I need to call to make those? Thx!

    Kelli,

So this really speaks to two different issues. In the case of the California Grill, it is currently closed for a major refurbishment. The menu is being overhauled as much as the decor. It is expected to open later in 2013, presumably late summer. But until Disney is 100% sure of when they will re-open, they probably won't take reservations, so as to avoid disappointing a customer.

As for the Fireworks Dessert Party, that is a different situation. It has always had a weird reservation track record, and what you will probably find is that you have to keep checking for availability all the way to the week that you travel there. They seem to keep that one closer to actual dates, as opposed to being available out at 180 days in advance. I would also recommend that you phone on this reservation, as that might increase your chances of success.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but better to know and plan accordingly, than remain in wonder.

Have a magical (and delicious) vacation!
